This isn’t my dog, but she sure looks ready to go!

If you have read previous blog posts, you probably have realized that I love animals. Especially my dog! Whenever I travel, my first questions is… can I take my dog. I do travel without her, but if there’s a way she can go with me, that is my first choice.

Welcome to a new week everyone! Last week I had fun highlighting lovely beach areas to consider purchasing property. Let’s change it up a bit. This week I’m going to venture to the desert! Although I love living near the water, one of my fondest childhood memories is waking up in my grandparents’ backyard. They lived near Palm Springs. The cool, crisp desert morning air felt so refreshing and healthy. I always felt rested when I awoke.

Fisherman’s Wharf in Monterey, California.

In keeping with my accidental beach theme this week, I thought I would move a bit north to Monterey. Located on the central coast of California, this waterfront city was made famous in author John Steinbeck’s novels, Cannery Row, Tortilla Flat and East of Eden, as well as his play, Of Mice and Men.

A lovely Malibu view. It could be yours!

Okay. I admit it. I have been watching more of Bravo TV’s reality show, Million Dollar Listing. Madison, one of the featured real estate agents on the show focuses most of his attention in Malibu, California.

When they show scenes of Malibu I am reminded about one of the main benefits of Southern California. Sandy beaches, waves galore and beautiful, uplifting ocean views are definite perks to live here.

Below is a link to houses for sale in Malibu. One thing I learned from reviewing these listings is the Malibu area has varying property prices. I was honestly surprised to find such a variety in cost in this affluent beachfront city located in northwestern Los Angeles County. I had a preconceived notion that all the prices would be in extremely close. Check it out for yourself!

Desert beauty in Arizona.

I feel like I have been neglecting you Arizona! I’ve been writing a lot about California lately. It’s your turn Copper State! More commonly known as The Grand Canyon State, the desert climate of Arizona claims spring training camps for many major league baseball teams. The San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants and the state’s home club Diamondbacks are just a few of the teams that train in Arizona.

Since we’re talking houses, I wanted to mention that acclaimed architect, Frank Lloyd Wright lived in Arizona for 22 years. Although he was not born in the Arizona, he bought 800 acres and designed a home known as, Taliesin West in Scottsdale in 1937 where he lived for the remainder of his life. Famous for his unique innovative designs, Wright authored 20 books and was an educator in the United States and Europe and in addition to being an architect.
