Beautiful Ocean Beach.

I love San Diego’s Ocean Beach area, known as OB to locals. My friend and I went there for dinner last night. One of the things I like about OB is that there are a number of restaurants with outdoor dining, allowing people to dine with their dogs. Ocean Beach is an overall dog friendly area.

We opted for a spot on Abbot with a view of the water. It was overcast, which I love! It is always 10 – 15 degrees cooler near the San Diego beaches than it is in many inland areas. Some people like that, and I am one of them!

Ocean Beach is the home of the infamous OB Pier, beautiful water views and waves to surf. As I mentioned before, they have a multitude of restaurants to choose from. You can also walk to the nearby dog park, off-leash dog beach, dog washes, pet supply stores, coffee houses, antique shops, banks and grocery stores, including People’s, which is a favorite for vegetarians, vegans and those that like locally grown produce. Speaking of which, every Wednesday there is the festive Ocean Beach Farmer’s Market, with more fresh produce,  delicious food, arts and craft vendors, live music and more!

Ocean Beach is located just two hours south of Los Angeles and eight and a half hours from San Francisco. This gem of a beach town has a lot to offer, while maintaining the laid back, easy going beach community feel.

Although it has been modernized, there still exists a residual 60’s element in OB. One of the most beautiful areas of Ocean Beach is Sunset Cliffs.
