12.18.2012 – Relocation

We've all been there.

I just moved from one location to another. As we all know, it is a huge job! No matter how much time we spend getting organized and preparing for the big day, or as in my case, days, it seems to always take longer than anticipated.

In addition to packing, packing and more packing you need to communicate with the post office to ensure your mail will still be received, change your address on your driver’s license, contact anyone who sends you mail, whether creditors, friends or family, start and stop cable, internet and any other similar service. In short, there is a lot to do. And this is not even a complete list!

If you happen to be planning a move to Arizona or California you may want to review the information at one or both of the links below.

12.14.2012 – San Francisco Strength

The San Francisco housing market is healthier!

We’ve been having cooler weather in San Diego this week. It has included overcast skies and rain. Not typical San Diego misting or light showers that last for a few minutes and are gone. Instead more thorough pours, as seen more typically in San Francisco and other areas of northern California.

As I have mentioned before in this blog, because of my preference of cooler weather, some have suggested I move to the Bay Area. I’m not sure if I ever will or not, but I do like the weather up there.

In the field of real estate there are some excited changes happening in the Bay area. According to the Los Angeles Times article at the link below, the San Francisco area housing market has grown stronger. Both real estate sales and prices have increased since last year.

12.12.2012 – Real Estate Education

Sunny beaches near by the University of San Diego.

I live in San Diego County. Although it is where I have lived for over five years, I am still learning about things that are available here. Today I discovered that at the University of San Diego there is an education center for those interested in getting involved in the professional side of real estate.

According to the UCSD website, the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate was founded in 1993. Find out more about the center at the link below.

Then we had 02-02-02 and on through last year’s 11-11-11. Since there is no 13th month, this special occurrence won’t happen again until the XXII century. So… Happy 12-12-12 all! 12.7.2012 – Creative Outlets for Kids

Tonight I went and saw a high school production of Peter Pan that one of my neighbors was in. It was a wonderful show; fun, funny and moving. Loved it! I was impressed with the acting, direction and the whole event before, during and after the show.

Kids need opportunities to help them learn, grow and express themselves. Thanks Boys & Girls Club!

It made me think about the importance of giving young people of all ages opportunities to learn and experience difference activities, including the arts. It made me happy to see the students, as relaxed as they were on stage, having fun, expressing themselves, while working together.

Besides school groups, there are a number of organizations throughout the United States that give our youth outlets for expression, creative and otherwise. Once such respected organization is the Boys & Girls Club. Private money lender, Source Capital is a proud supporter of what this group represents.

12.5.2012 – House Flipping Secrets

Flippers can turn this cute little house into a lucrative masterpiece!

Have you seen Bravo TV’s reality show, Flipping Out? Although the show focuses much of its attention on relationship conflicts and the show’s star Jeff Lewis’ love of sarcasm, it does shed some light on the world of flipping houses.

Those that purchase less than perfect homes and invest money into remodeling them to be sold at a profit, are often referred to as Flippers. They search for good deals on fixer upper dwellings and when the price is right, make their purchase. Then they improve the property, adding aesthetically pleasing attributes and other value to attract potential buyers.

Below is a link to a US News article featuring the topic of flipping houses. If you have thought about trying this business venture, or you are just curious to learn more about the art of being a flipper, check it out!

12.3.2012 – Invest in Real Estate

One of Arizona's many desert loving residents.

There is more than one way to invest in real estate. The most common thought may be to purchase property that will have a high probability of return. It may be a fixer upper that is then “flipped” for a profit. Perhaps it will be an income producing multi-family apartment complex or a high rise office building with tenants providing a monthly income.

If you have been trying to get in on the purchasing craze, but are lacking funding, you may be a candidate for a private money loan from southern California based, Source Capital. Implementing real estate loan transactions in Arizona and California, Source Capital may be the answer you’ve been looking for.

Below is an article sharing the current outlook on investing in Arizona real estate.

11.26.2012 – Shark Tank

Ever seen ABC's Shark Tank?

Have you seen the ABC show Shark Tank? It’s an interesting concept that allows entrepeneurs and inventors to pitch their idea to several self-made successful business people, including Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban.

I have seen the show a few times. I have enjoyed it and learned from it. A recent episode features Bill Lyons, one of San Diego County’s own. Lyons was born in Point Loma, grew up in Coronado and then received his Bachelors Degree from Arizona State University. Now back in San Diego County and a Mission Hills resident and innovative businessman, Lyons can be seen on Shark Tank, pitching Revestor, a website designed to assist real estate investors to find the best deals.
